Using our own puppet theatre box as a base, children work on:

• Devising a script
• Making hand- and stick-puppets, props and backdrops
• Taking part in the performance of their own show

Activities:

Using willow, paper and other materials children learn how to make:

• Giant figures & objects
• Paper lanterns
• Masks and Mosaics

Benefits:

Focuses on the ‘fantastic’, unleashing children’s imagination and developing artistic skills such as modelling and painting.  Particularly suited to groups preparing for festivals or celebrations, since the giant figures can be illuminated and paraded.

Activities:

Participants will learn how to:

• Perform magic tricks
• Combine those in a show
• Present them in front of others

Benefits:

Stimulates lateral thinking and improves motor skills. Develops expression, timing, team work and encourages confidence.

Special Magic Workshops also available for adults working with children. (Sometimes it’s good to have a trick up your sleeve!)

Activities:

Participants will learn the basic rules of photographic expression and about how to script, shoot and edit a short video film.

Benefits:

Encourages development of visual sense and expression, storytelling skills and creative collaboration. Also shows young people that there’s more to a good film than pressing ‘shoot’ on a mobile phone! A suitable lead-up project for exhibitions, viewings  and decorative installations.
